Reiki is of No Interest to Dummies

Dummies, brainiacs, and such labels do not exist in the spiritual practice of Reiki Ryoho, commonly called Reiki. The energy that promotes and speeds healing at all levels does so for people of all ages from all walks of life.

If a person decides to study Reiki, what style he or she should study depends upon the direction in which he or she wishes to face in life. The devotion to study and practice might seem unappealing, but think of the quote, “If something is worth doing, it is worth doing right.” I chose to study under teachers practicing that which has not strayed from the spiritual roots Mikao Usui created. Teachers of these methods coming directly from Japan smoothly guide those studying under them to connect and allow the energy to flow freely.

You can experience the benefits of Reiki without study; simply schedule a Reiki healing session given by a person that has devoted time to study and practice.

Books and websites reflecting different views make Reiki appear complicated. While Reiki is not something you can teach yourself, learn from a book, or down load from the internet, it is not difficult. If you have heard unsettling things about Reiki reflect on Dr. H.C.F. Meyer. In the 1800s he patented an oil he proved helpful for snake bites only to have “snake oil” become a joke because others altered his method in the oil they prepared.

The following points will help to uncomplicated the various presentations of Usui Reiki Ryoho.

 Reiki is a spiritual practice, but neither a belief system nor a religion.

 Adenosine Triphosphate (ATP) molecules are one of the most important biological compounds for all living organisms. The reason being is that these molecules serve as the direct source of energy for doing cellular work.

 Reiki is energy, therefore important in maintaining homeostasis and healing.

 “Rei” means something mysterious, miraculous, and sacred.

 “Ki” means the atmosphere of something unseen or the energy of the universe. Ki does in some instances means an individual’s life force energy, but Reiki is universal energy.

 Science states energy can be neither created nor destroyed; it can only be changed from one form to another.

 Reiki is a form of universal energy, which needs to flow through the body of a person who is capable of not trying to direct or manipulate it.

 Once a person is initiated into Reiki he or she will never loose that connection.

 The energy named Reiki will flow as soon as a person has been imitated by a qualified Reiki Shihan (teacher), but assimilation for it to flow purely requires time, study, and practice.

 Mikao Usui connected to the universal vibrations of love and harmony through a disciplined mediation, following three years of Zen studies in 1921, without any directions or fan fare. He named the spiritual practice he created in 1922 Reiki Ryoho. He passed on in his sleep the 9th day of March 1926 following a full day of giving sessions.

 Mikao Usui or Usui-Sensei, is sometimes called Dr. Usui for no documented reason.

 Mikao Usui was Buddhist all his life, but the only similarities between Reiki Ryoho and Buddhism are discipline and practice.

 Regardless of the style of Usui Reiki Ryoho practiced, the form of energy named Reiki retains the same strength as long as it is allowed to flow pure with nothing added.

 The flow of Reiki can become polluted by the actions, mindset, or spirit of the person through which it flows. Tainting or blocks can be removed by a focused hands-on technique given by a qualified Reiki teacher.

 Love and harmony cause no harm so logically these vibrations from the universe causes not harm. Neither pain nor anything negative comes from Reiki that has not been altered.

 Anyone practicing Reiki does not diagnose, manipulate tissues, prescribe any medications, changes in diet, or exercise unless he or she holds a professional medical license in that related area.

 Reiki complements professional medical care, and other healing modalities.

 It is always recommended people and their pets seek out professional medical care for mind and body when needed.

 Reiki surrounds with balance and harmony; what is in balance and surrounded by harmony heals, and is without stress.

 Reiki flows though hands, eyes, breath, and other areas, but sessions are most commonly hands-on with the person receiving being fully clothed.

 Reiki practitioners move his or her hands to gently rest on non-invasive areas guided by the feel of the vibrations of distressed cells.

 Memorizing hand positions is not required because they are teaching aids to help the person learning until the inharmonic vibrations put out by certain cells can be felt.

 Encumbrances in mind, body and spirit, which can cause emotional distress, are released in the way best for each individual and positive energy then fills the void.

 Memorizing Reiki symbols is not required because they are training wheels or teaching tools to help those studying Reiki to learn to feel the various energies contained within Reiki.

 The Gokai (Reiki precepts or principals) is five simple lines. Example being the fifth which says to extend kindness, nothing more; kindness does not require personal feelings or money.

 Reiki will only flow as much as the cells receiving are capable of holding at that moment in time.

 A person allowing Reiki to flow to the imbalance of another cannot catch that imbalance unless it is a contagious disease.

 The bombing of Pearl Harbor during WWII followed on the heels of Reiki (the Japanese art of healing) being introduced into Hawaii seeded some distorted Reiki legends.

 Symbols, techniques, attunements are all but tools, it is only when devotion to study and practice are added with the tools that the masterpiece of being one with the energy evolves.

Reiki is a beautiful method of using universal energy to promote and speed healing via balance and harmony. While it requires time to assimilate, following the hours you spend with you teacher, you can practice wherever and when ever is good for you. Technology has added to ease in learning by making our Reiki teachers available for our questions even after we have received our Reiki certificate.
